The tube effect of Saga is only minimal but its there. Tube rolling does not improve things that much. A good old stock tube would be enough.doctorjohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11301768655128512295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395121002488101245.post-48775559666995334782022-03-02T20:56:44.950-05:002022-03-02T20:56:44.950-05:00Hi Doctor, did you have the chance to try SAGA+, h...Hi Doctor, did you have the chance to try SAGA+, have you done any tube rolling with it, do you feel the tube presecense? or is it barely noticeable? Sometimes, cables matter a lot. Also, what is your source? Computer as source can sound quite bland if not implemented correctly.

In general I favor using a tube preamp. Modern ones are not lossy in terms of detail, but impart a certain warmth.doctorjohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11301768655128512295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395121002488101245.post-84566732198483373032019-05-22T13:09:09.915-04:002019-05-22T13:09:09.915-04:00Hello John,

Please let me to ask and advice about it.

I had a Chord Qutest DAC (very dry sounding) and a Vincent SV-237 amplifier. The combination was so warm and amazing except details missed for example at quick guitar solos.

So I bought a Hypex based D-Class amplifier with very low THD to Istvanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16891873521950310272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395121002488101245.post-86623041749917515372019-01-07T10:54:02.326-05:002019-01-07T10:54:02.326-05:00The Saga is really nominally tube, and has no gain...The Saga is really nominally tube, and has no gain. Dynamics and slam would not be as impressive as a regular tube preamp. The Saga is also rather clean sounding and mates better with tube amps I'd think. doctorjohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11301768655128512295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395121002488101245.post-43351724497441121322019-01-06T16:49:23.954-05:002019-01-06T16:49:23.954-05:00Hi Doc, I have a Rotel RB-870BX which you reviewed...Hi Doc, I have a Rotel RB-870BX which you reviewed in the past. You mentioned a tube pre-amp would sound better and I wanted to know your thoughts about the how the Saga would pair? I really only use an old Pioneer DV 47 SACD player and a Dragonfly DAC(for now). Speakers are Sonus Faber Concerto's. I reckon the problem likely lies elsewhere. The Saga is pretty ruthless, and should be partnered by warmer gears and cables.doctorjohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11301768655128512295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395121002488101245.post-10911865255760182452018-07-08T07:24:19.734-04:002018-07-08T07:24:19.734-04:00Had my Saga over six months now. Sound seems imprecise, edgy, strained, and even fuzzy. Might try turning the Marantz into a transport and adding the Schiit Gungnir DAC. Any thoughts?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15069993041388930827noreply@blogger.com
