Video: The Making of Aiyima T9 Pro

It's very entertaining, and I learned a lot about the manufacturing process. I helped a little with the translation of the subtitles.
What truly impressed me is that the care shown over the manufacturing and Quality Control. This kind of testing and quality control is likely as good as, or even better than, many so-called high-end manufacturers. Come to think of it, in many cases the latter cannot really be easily returned (the more expensive the more so), whereas a cheap Aiyima can be returned to Amazon even after an unreasonably long time, so it's in the interest of Aiyima to make sure there are no small incidences.

Instead of the Aiyima T9 Pro, I got the SUCA Audio Smart 03, likely OEM by Aiyima. Those on the hunt for a similar type, do check out the nobsound/douk audio B100.

I got it out of curiosity due to its unusual tubes. Surprisingly, it mates incredibly well with my Beydas (both 11 and 15ohm 3/5a)Via a vis the Suca Audio Smart03, the sound is way punchier and meaty, without loss of details and air. 10’clock on the dial gets me decent SPL and PRAT(caveat though: an Aucharm 5A fuse was used as well as the stock cord replaced with “Nordost” 15cores from AliExpress. Doc, you may wish to try it out if you can get a loaner. Oh, only downside, no remote :(
Yes, Suca Smart03=Aiyima T9 Pro, made at the same factory. Yes too, I have noticed this Nobsound B100 before for its unusual tube. They also have a cheaper Preamp using 2 direct heated 2V tubes. Well, no plan to buy any hybrids but sure I'd love to evaluate these if I can!

ReplyDeleteSorry for late reply. The answer is a definite NO. Roll down and look at the spec's of the Douk. At 24V, it's only capable of 0.6 A current delivery, which is NOT nearly enough for the T9 Pro (you'd want a 3A capacity to say the least). This one is a LINEAR power supply, which uses a transformer, and one that can deliver 3A would be very big and heavy and expensive.
DeleteWhat you want is a SMPS SWITCH MODE PS, no big transformer, compact and much cheaper. Get one like in this article:

Hello. Quick question, can T9 pro connected to A07 via T9's pre out? Will it improve the sound? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSorry for late reply, I have just gone back to NYC, via Taiwan! Well, certainly u can connect the T9 pre-out to the A07. Not sure what u are using now. Not sure if it will improve the sound. I think it's probably more sensible to get a dedicated tube preamp if that's what's needed.
